"Birds
and reptiles have been my obsession from an early age. I was raised
in southern California and spent many weekends in the desert looking
for reptiles with my friends. Later, I attended universities in
California and Texas where I obtained degrees in biology and wildlife
science. I met an Aussie nurse while attending graduate school in
Texas and returned with her to Australia in 1982. We settled in
Wollongong and love the area with its beaches and bushwalks all
within a few minutes of our home." |

| "Australia
is a fantastic place for a bird and reptile enthusiast. It really
is the "reptile continent" with a tremendous diversity
of species. I live in the suburbs but still can enjoy a number
of species of skinks in my yard including the amazing Eastern
Blue-tongues." |

| "I
am lucky to have a wife who tolerates my hobbies and does not
mind our holidays being organized around these activities. We
travel often within Australia and have seen many marvellous animals.
One of our most memorable experiences was having a picnic in Mallacoota,
Victoria, while two large and
fearless Lace Monitors circled the table and begged for food.
They would occasionally stand upright on their hind legs and peer
at the food on the table." |

"In
recent years, my son has gained an interest in snakes and lizards.
He and I have travelled throughout Asia and southern Africa. There
is always so much to see and so much to learn where ever we go." |
