"I,
like many others here, have had a fascination with herps and other
wildlife since early childhood. If I wasn’t exploring the woodlands
and farm country near my eastern Missouri home I was reading field
guides or daydreaming about the animals found therein."
"During
my young adult years I took to traveling and exploring the back
country by various means (mostly this was just an excuse to ignore
my scholastic responsibilities). It was on one of these trips
that I decided I was going to make my living as a wildlife photographer.
Unfortunately like many aspiring wildlife photographers I was
sucked into the world of people photography, where I make my living
today. Fortunately, I still enjoy spending most all of my free
time (and unfortunately all of my money) searching for and photographing
wildlife."
"It
wasn’t too many years ago that I was introduced to the internet
and discovered that there was a full blown hobby called “field
herping”. Up until that point I really thought I was about the
only one (with exception to a very few others) that enjoyed going
out and searching for reptiles and amphibians in adult life. Of
course this realization was warmly welcomed by me and since then
I’ve made many great friends in the hobby as well as greatly expanded
my knowledge from them."
"There’s
nothing I enjoy more than exploring new habitats and looking for
animals that I may have dreamed about as a child but didn’t even
comprehend that seeing them in life would ever be a reality. Feel
free to visit my web site www.michaelcravens.com
where I catalog reports and photos from all my trips."
