Two-striped Racer (Masticophis lateralis) attempting to engulf a
Southern Alligator Lizard (Elgaria multicarinata). This struggle
took place right outside our front door. From the initial appearance,
it looked like the alligator lizard did not have a chance (there
was also a suspicious bulge in the snake that appeared to be another
lizard). However, after about a 20-minute struggle, the lizard shook
free and ran away!" |
