We found some two lined, a redback, and I think some baby duskies, but I'm hoping for some help with ID of the little guys just to be sure. Located in Keene, NH. Two-lined Salamander http:...

Second question: regarding nonvenomous snake species-I've seen and read about folks being bitten while handling garters, water snakes, etc. Is there any concern that rodent-borne or other pathogenic diseases could be transmitted through a bite? I don't use protective filters, because even the best ones can degrade image quality. Another layer of glass can also introduce flare issues, as light has one more surface to bounce off of. If you are going to use filters, use the higher quality ones not the inexpensive cheap ones. B+W is a good bra...

That's a HUGE piece of dust. Not necessarily. How big the sensor dust appears also has to do with the aperture setting. Next time you find dust on your sensor, shoot wide open (use a large aperture like f/2.8 or f/4) then stop down (f/22 or so) and shoot again. You'll notice with the wider aperture...

Keep in mind that a DSLR with a cropped sensor (all entry level DSLRs and most of the more affordable ones that I see herpers using), the effective focal length of a lens will be magnified by 1.5-1.6x (Nikon cropped sensors are 1.5x, Canon's are 1.6x with the exception of some of the 1D series which...

One warning with flash in the rainforest - if it is actually raining (or moreso if actively misting) the flash will illuminate the droplets of water in the air and NOT help your photos at all. So don't use flash when the air is very heavy with moisture or else the photo will be fogged. This can easi...
