Re: First time in the SW US and got to do a little herping!

My guess would be Greater Short-horn, P. hernandesi , on your little horned lizard. The only other species in that area, to my knowledge, is P. platyrhinos . Yours looks like a juvenile short-horn to me. Awesome thanks Steve! Yes, it was very very small. Would have never seen it but it moved when I...

First time in the SW US and got to do a little herping!

On my road trip I went through southern California and of course on over through Arizona. I didn't get to herp as much as I would have liked to in Arizona but for the couple times of getting out of Phoenix I was pleased with my finds. I really liked Arizona and the rocks, hills, and elevation give a...

Sierra garter snake (Thamnophis couchii) Mutation?

Visited Yosemite today and I found a little garter snake that seemed to have a weird mutation on the back of its neck. It looked like large white elongated scales to me. The snake seemed to behave just like any other garter snake I've ever found. Btw, this was a lifer for me! Here are some pics. So ...

You should kayak the silver river. You will see turtles water snakes and alligators and monkeys. Then you should go to the northern indian river lagoon and go kayaking in the bioluminescence at night. Florida has a lot of awesome kayaking to be done.

In my opinion a GoPro would be terrible for what you're talking about. I have one and pretty much only use it for scenery time lapses and underwater footage. It doesn't have auto focus and it just keeps a really deep depth of field. You cannot get good macro shots. If I were you I'd use a high end p...
