As good as all these points are. It would be a little easier to help things along if the state didn't view everyone in the woods as a potential poacher. It's not against the law to have a hook for flipping in your posession. But it sure makes not getting bit or stung a lot easier. The state needs t...

I find that sometimes garter and water snakes utilize the same habitats and areas within those habitats but I've never observed the two species stacked on top of one another like that.

In this case (above) P. obsoletus would refer to all rat snakes in that species group (yellows, grays, blacks, etc.) and P. o. obsoletus would refer to specifically the black rat snake.

Yo Bob- How large was that egg mass that the "Chorus frog" tadpole came from? It has been my experience in the piney barrens that the masses are about the size of a golf ball and contain typically, roughly 25 eggs.. the tadpole though, does look similar to the chorus frog larvae I have bee...

Not sure what the laws are in PA but if possible sell them or put them up for adoption. If you end up doing this, you might want to include in your advert that you're looking for someone who won't dump the turtle after they're done with it

Hey Nick, are the large marginal blotches typical for yellowbellys?
Re: Lifer?
Yeah, now I'm pretty unsure myself.
Re: Lifer?
.. completely removing the turtle probably isn't a bad idea either, especially if there are native redbelly turtles utilizing the pond.

Re: Lifer?
I don't think it's Trachemys scripta because it lacks a yellow head blotch which is fairly conspicuous. I wish you had an overhead shot, but I'd go with Pseudemys nelsoni because of the neck stripe reaching the nostrils and the large marginal blotches. The plastron even appears to have a pinkish hue...
