Thanks Porter and Melissaisdown the Queen snake was a huge treat and this one was really cooperative so compared to what I was expecting it was lovely to photograph. That badger was less calm. Cimarron National Grasslands and Cheyenne Bottoms were the two stops I made last time I past through Kansas and both sites were amazing. Great photos, this guy was sort of hidden in plain sight. Warm (23C), sunny day in moist low area with predominantly sandy substrate. I agree any info you have about flashes vs. lights I'd be interested. They've never seemed too bothered but they keep calling when captured sometimes so seem pretty resilient to disturbance.
