Jon,

I havn't seen a hognose at night, but I helped a foxsnake cross a busy road last year at night. It is the only time I have seen nocturnal behaviour in foxsnakes.

I too have restored most of my property back to tallgrass prairie . I recently tallied 115 species of native plants, which of course attracts many insects and other wildlife. Most of my plants have been salvaged from construction sites. The diversity of moths that visit my porch light has increased ...

I agree there is a perspective bias in the picture, but see no reason to not believe the 22' measurement. I have just pulled the trigger on a canon g12 that was on sale, it seems to be well received and provides excellent macro functionality which is important to me. My idea of a herp wonderland doesn't involve spreading trash all over the place, but rather. Habitat enhancement such as invasive plant control and, depending on your location tree removal in favor of grassland habitat. Placing ac is littering, and will just make it easier to poach in my opinion

Personally, I think the rift lies somewhere between the biologists and the conservation officers. There aren't enough co's that are qualified to protect wildlife IMO.

I would look at a pungo or a tarpon both by wilderness systems. The pungo has a nice big cockpit for getting into and out of and the tarpon is a sit on top, even easier to get out of! I think it is a flycatcher, maybe a pewee. The beak is wrong for a towhee and I would be surprised if that snake could eat a bird as large as a thrasher.
