Chameleons of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

On Saturday, some friends and I went in search for a very special chameleon. It was the last of the chameleon species occurring in the province that we were yet to see. We saw it! There's 8 Dwarf Chameleon (Bradypodion), including one yet to be fully described, which occur in the province of KwaZulu...

A few finds from Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Hi all, I recently spent a bit of time in the northern parts of my home province, KwaZulu-Natal. The area is renown for being the 'diversity hot-spot' of the country. I didn't have too much luck this trip, although I think the drought, which has crippled the area for the past year or two, has affect...

Hi all, I finally got to explore outside of my home province (KwaZulu-Natal) last week, when I went to a town called Wakkerstroom. I spend a lot of my spring/summer nights searching for frogs. Whether it's survey work, research, or just for fun (which it usually is). Where I'm based, in KwaZulu-Natal, we have plenty to look for, as it is the most species-rich province in South Africa. Of course, one sees a whole lot more than '...

No it is not all about the photo score, however, one does not often get the chance to have their photo taken with such an incredible animal.

The snake is alive and in appropriate habitat. It has not had it's head cut off, and is unharmed.
