With Phrynosoma ditmarsi being found in the Sierra San Luis, there's a good chance they're in the foothills of the SSL in New Mexico. Anyone who has spent time down there should check their Phrynosoma photos for that area to make sure their hernandesi aren't ditmarsi.

It's hard to throw snakes from that area into one bucket or another - it's an intergrade zone mixing molossus molossus, molossus nigrescens, and molossus basiliscus. The TK45 has 4 output settings (8 lummens, 95, 312, and 760) and you can switch between the them very quickly. If 760 is too much, just switch to 312.

I pose/photo virtually every rattlesnake I find. That said, if I gave a sh*t about seeing them at that same location, I wouldn't.

Pretty sure there was a paper on this from somewhere in AZ, I'll see if I can find it.

I can't help you with the tzabcan, but I know a few guys on here can. The enyo are pretty much guaranteed if you go late august through early october. They cross highway 1 regularly in the evenings,and are pretty thick between San Ignacio and Santa Rosalia, among other places.

The "survey ID field" would fit this purpose. You could enter an ID unique to that trip (i.e. (OAX200605), then to return the finds from a single trip you would just search your records for that value.

Naw, that can be true too. Babies in a few species have been found to have different venom compositions designed to do different things than adult venom (i.e. stop prey dead instead vs digest)

ROFL thats hilarious. Like Chris said, there's a new record that recently came to light just to the SW of there. The specimen was photo'd by a team surveying for jaguars, and they mistook it for a lepidus.

So you cross reference it in the notes in one fashion, someone else does it slightly differently. The end result is a headache for whoever does the dedupping. A standard field that can be easily filtered during a data request is the better and more sustainable approach. Don, we need an edit!

Sounds like we need a couple new fields to capture other online observation databases and the observation number. (I imagine it would be similar to the museum collection fields).

I agree we should avoid intra-database redundancies. i.e., records entered into our database by Art, and then again by UAZ. But how are Art's redundant? Are UAZ records on herpnet? The value is exactly the same as the photo voucher records submitted. In this case though a specimen exists in a jar that can be requested and studied if needed. This is only added value if additional information is being included (stuff thats not already on the specimen tag, or in the collection's...
