Re: Very Unusual Red Milk Snake Story That Started in 2004!
A few years ago, I heard birds out in the front yard making a commotion. Went out to check, and there was a young adult rat snake approaching a nest of baby birds. The bird parents were understandably upset. I wanted to redirect the snake, but didn't want to cheat it out of a meal, so I took it indo...

Thank you for the beautiful post. Your photos are gorgeous. I geeked-out bigtime over the yellow boxies. Congratulations on finding the spotted salamander. Quite the accomplishment! Not sure what this means, but it might have something to do with it. This group will count toward the photo's limit (60 for Pro members, 30 for free members) Yeah, that's it. Ok, I gotta go delete something. I def want to put my one and only rainbow snake in. Thanks, Mike. I did see the photo limit...

Oooooh, I like this very much!I also made sure I controlled the event. No excited multiple hands, no eager flurry of taking fair turns, what was "fair" for the animal was asserted as the first concern.

I keep a 17 yr old Texas ratsnake and a ball python (both rescues) in my elementary classroom. I am blessed to have a principal who is very supportive and enthusiastic about the natural world. The kids and I take the snakes outside periodically, for UVB, to stretch, and so the kids can see the snake...

Hello, Family. I recall an eye-opening post from a couple of years ago concerning the dastardly things people do to animals to get those cutesy fake nature photos that unfortunately tend to go viral. I'm not a scientist. I'm not even very smart. I have two snakes, both captive bred. Most of the year they live in spacious habitats in my classroom. During school breaks, I bring them home. Omigosh, they love exploring the yard. So much. And sunning. And rubbing against different surfaces. And climb...

This is beautiful.
I sometimes got calls about snakes in peoples yards and I used to tell them it was a testament to the tranquility of their property.
