I've read that this is a great way to find Copperheads during the hot summer months in the southeast U.S. I've never read anything about it in the northeast though (WV, MD, PA, NY, CT). I have seen them before. They seem almost friendly at times. I don't touch snakes...only pictures but I'd bet they could give you a heck of a bite. A cool brs might be the way to go.

I recently found and photographed a timber rattlesnake for the first time. There are not many in CT and they are state endangered.
