In general, I would say that you probably don't need to worry too much about the inverts; if you're not planning on handling them then they probably won't be an issue, as long as you're careful where you put your hands (look under/around rocks before grabbing them). Same more or less goes with Rattl...

If you found that baja chorus frog in the canyon of palms that I'm thinking of then that is definitely out of place. Spring Break in Southern California
Hey all, So, after having been in New Hampshire for the past few months at college, I've been pretty starved for herps. Luckily my spring break was early this year, so I met with a few forum members, RobertH and gopher, for a few herping trips. First, on Sunday, I met Robert and Nicholas out in Rive...

While it's true that species which are genetically different aren't always morphologically different enough for easy field identification, it's important to realize that not all science is done in the field. In fact, I think more of it is done in a lab (anyone have stats to support/refute this?). If...

Octopi and lobsters a few times, and a couple of kayaks and paddleboards. My favorite though was a simple calico bass: it was caught by two people at the same time! I hooked it, and while fighting it got foul hooked in the back on another angler's line. That one was no fun to untangle!

I love the idea! As someone who has participated in a Christmas Bird Count, however, I would love to see people grouping together for this. Brian, thanks for the clarification on NAFHA's position. Coming from someone who frequents the Corona area, right now it is simply too hot, and too dry. I'm not the best herper myself, but I'd suggest that more towards winter you'll have an easier time finding herps. If you still want to find them now, try to find a water source such as a lake or stream.
