Your photos are (again) so nice! Too bad it's no picnic to herp there, 'cause I'll just have to go there someday myself...... Thanks Jeroen! Yeah it definitely requires a bit of planning but I think it would definitely be worth it in the monsoon :) I'm heading to India in a little over a month for ...

Nice pics of some cool herps, looks like you did well considering. Sorry to hear of your bureaucratic hindrances. Thanks John! Bureaucracy is a frustrating aspect of that part of the world! Western Ghats, India
Myself and my partner were lucky enough to spend 2 weeks road tripping around the Western Ghats volunteering with a researcher describing new species. Our target genus was Cnemaspis, a small but surprisingly colourful clade of day geckos. We were there in November, which is the off season for India....

Madagascar 16
Madagascar is somewhere I’ve dreamed of going since I was a kid. Actually getting there and experiencing it was unbelievable! We only had 2 weeks there out of a larger 3-month herping trip so our time and resources were pretty limited. We decided on spending 10 days in Andasibe, just west of the cap...

Re: Queensland trips overview [pic heavy]
Thanks for the kind words everyone! As for my set up I'm using mostly my 5Dmkiii, which I freaking love, coupled with either the canon 100mm macro or 24-70. For my fish eyes I steal my partners canon 7Dmkii and my samyang 8mm. My flash set up isn't anything fancy, just a canon 580 speedlite with a s...

Thanks everyone :) I love QLD but I am keen to do some more travel around Australia. Awesome photos of some amazing animals! How did you even get that close to a keithorni? I've done a few trips around different parts of QLD over the past year so I thought I'd put some photos up. I'll just put up a few photos from each area, sorry if there are any that have been posted here before! Way too many photos to post them all up here but if youre keen to see more feel free to ...

Re: Herps in habitat - photo thread
Thanks all, appreciate the info. Its a tough decision I can't quite decide what I'm more likely to photograph more. Yeah Daniel, I made a similar switch from a Nikon D80 to a D7100, the ISO performance knocked my socks off! I probably don't push the ISO as much as I could and rarely shoot above 800...

Re: Herps in habitat - photo thread
I also came from a 7D so this is from a purely Canon perspective. My usable ISO range on the 5Dmkiii is ridiculous! For example this Majors skink photo was taken in a dark rainforest at dusk with no flash or additional light source at ISO 2500. A photo like that would have been impossible with my 7D...

Hey everyone! Thanks for all of the lovely feedback
In regards to the astrophotography it does take a bit of trial and error to get it right. It uses the same principles of star trails though so if you do a bit of research into them you should be able to figure out how to do it!
