Re: CA Chapter outing 2016
I would really like to attend this. It would be my first meeting of this type from this forum and I am anxious to do it. The down side is that my life is in a state of serious change. I really won't know if I can do this until later. I will let you know when I get closer.

Re: SUCCESS WITH ZONATA!
What an awesome picture and story. I don't know if I mentioned it but the person holding the zonata in the picture is my dad. He got me into snakes and finding "critters" when I was really young. I have been taking him out with me on the hunt for the zonata a lot of the time and he was the...

Re: SUCCESS WITH ZONATA!
Lets see if I can get some pictures up here... OK. That is not working. All I seem to be able to do is link the photos at HERP. http://www.naherp.com/photo.php?v_id=331172 http://www.naherp.com/photo.php?v_id=331171 http://www.naherp.com/photo.php?v_id=331170 I would love to have the photos directly...

SUCCESS WITH ZONATA!
I first looked into researching herping on the internet about two years ago. I had loved it as a kid (I am 45 now so think 80's) but information was so hard to come by back then. Then I had largely forgotten the joy of searching. I still loved hiking and camping. The occasional find was fun, but goi...

Re: Am I doing something wrong? Zonata Search
I am seeing the damage as well. I was raised on the outdoors. I have been snake hunting and fishing and backpacking my whole life. I always try to leave a site as I found it. I frequently pass over sites that look really good because I don't think I can search it without destroying it and I would ra...

Am I doing something wrong? Zonata Search
Hello. I have made just a few posts here since I found the forum last fall. I wish something like this had been available when I was a kid. It has really inspired me to get out and look. This spring I have been spending most of my trips to San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties in search of my first ever...

Re: Safety in the field
This is really helpful and appreciated. Sorry I didn't acknowledge this before now. I have never been good at keeping up on forums. I never did find my rubber boa last fall. Here we are in spring and I am heading out every weekend trying different places and different things. Surprise, I have found ...

Re: Early 2015- some notable finds
I am just in awe. I only discovered this forum last year. I have been learning a lot. I loved hunting for herps as a kid, but then kinda stopped. I have only just rediscovered how much I love it, but I am blown away by the finds and the pics that I see here.

Re: Safety in the field
Coming back to the snake gaiters and boots question. How many of you wear something like this? Do you have opinions about good brands? Boots and gaiters? Just gaiters? Snake proof boots or just heavy leather boots? I would love to know more and learn from all of you.

Re: Safety in the field
I picked up the Mountain Kings book from the guys over at the East Bay Vivarium. I have been pouring through that book. Really impressive work. I must admit I am even a little jealous. I had dreams of writing something like that when I was a kid, but I am glad it was written. A Cal Mtn. King would a...

Safety in the field
Hello, This is my first post to the forum. By way of introduction I would like to say that discovering this forum has been a real eye-opener for me. I haven't been serious about going out and looking for herps in many years. In fact, since before I knew about the internet. I have recently gotten mor...
