I also saw a common garter and a red bellied turtle to add to my list so am happy. Thanks to all for your replies, I really ...

Re: South FL after dark; never a dull moment...
Geez, how'd this get dug up? The only regret I have about this post is that I included the Python encounters and the only thing I changed by dispatching them was the forage (prob a high percentage of it native fauna) they would've eaten as they continued to grow. I had almost zero impact on the pop...

Re: ID needed please
Thanks everyone. I thought the toad was a Southern, but it looked different to the others I saw as it has something stuck to its back and wondered if it was a different species. Is this another Southern Toad? http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy201/LCOWSILL/DSC_1195.jpg Anyone know what type of wat...

ID needed please
Hi all I'm currently in Everglades City. I'm seeing lots of these lizards and would really appreciate an ID please. I think they're some kind of curly tailed skink, but am not 100% sure. Your help would be greatly appreciated confirming the species. http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/yy201/LCOWSILL/...

Re: Law enforcement in Big Cypress / Fakahatchee Strand
Thanks. I've seen a few LEO's down there and after reading this forum thought it would be wise to check the situation.
I can be quite good at playing the dumb tourist when needed though.

Re: Eastern Coral Snake
Yeah it does help. Thanks very much for the info. I can't wait to get there to be honest.
On a similar note, what are my chances of finding pygmy rattlers in Big Cypress? I've only ever seen EDB's before. But then again I have never looked for pygmies. Is flipping a good idea for these also?

Law enforcement in Big Cypress / Fakahatchee Strand
I've just been reading about people being stopped in ENP for having hooks with them. Just out of interest, do the rangers stop herpers in Big Cypress and Fakahatchee if they're seen herping? I've only ever been stopped by them when fishing and have been checked for my license etc.

Re: strangest thing you ever caught
There's a few. Below is a brown pelican. I was fishing in Lake Placid, Everglades City. I was cleaning redfish and threw the heads and guts into the lake where a flock of pelicans were waiting. This was at a cleaning station were the birds were used to this. I had a couple of rods out at the side of...

Eastern Coral Snake
Hello all I'm staying in Everglades City on vacation very soon and will be herping in Big Cypress National Preserve a nearby WMA. I've been lucky enough to see corn snakes, rat snakes, countless cottonmouths and a couple of eastern diamondback rattlesnakes. I've however never seen an Eastern Coral s...

Re: South FL after dark; never a dull moment...
Hi all New to the forum, I'm from the UK but visit South Florida every winter. I'll be there in a few days. I spend time in Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve and the Fakahatchee strand when fishing and herping. We also head down to the Keys for a week every year. I also keep re...
