Re: Smoky Mountain Snakes
Thanks, guys. Sounds about like I thought. And, I'm not asking for anyone to tell me any specifics about timbers, or any other snake. Just curious how much luck people have had up there.

Smoky Mountain Snakes
Have any of you had much luck finding snakes in the smoky mountains? I know it's the salamander capital of the world, but I live in, and grew up in northern AL, in the appalachian foothills. There was a salamander or two under every flat rock or log where I grew up, so I guess they just never intrig...

What happens if it's rainy? It's still a bit far out for accurate predictions, but right now, it's looking like rain.

Re: Theme 4 - First/early herp related pictures that you too
I've been a herp fan since I was a kid in the 80's, but I really didn't start photographing them until sometime in the last decade or so. Although I still can't compare to many of the photographers here, I'd like to think I've gotten better. Here's a photo from my early photography years of some ano...

Re: New Guy Introduction (and a few photos of my reptiles)
Kleinmanni ! Cool! Don't see many of those. Yeah, they're not very common. I've started thinking about trying to find a mate for Poki, when I have the extra cash to swing it. Where did you get your indigo? I've been trying to get one to replace an old male that I had for about a year and half now, ...

Re: 2015 Eastern Indigo Snake Search - Conecuh Naitonal Fore
Couple more questions....... Do any (or all) of you guys stay at the campground over the weekend? Would there be any objections to my daughter coming along? She'll be about a week away from her 10th bday at that time. She's been tagging along with me in some pretty rough outdoor activities for the p...

And, just for fun, here's a recent video of Loki attacking a dead mouse.

Essentially if you're reading the posts in this thread you've been invited. My purpose in posting in the SE chapter is for an open invitation to the SE members, but this does not exclude anyone on the forum. The intent of an organized volunteer snake hunt weekend is to 1) aid the researchers in col...

Re: Southeast Chapter Member Biographies
Also, I don't know how it flies with this group, but I've also always been a reptile keeper. When I was a kid, I did sometimes keep wild-caught specimens, but now I only work with captive-bred animals. Anyway, Hi. Welcome. Glad to have you here. There are a few keepers among the ranks. If you go ba...

New Guy Introduction (and a few photos of my reptiles)
Hello, everyone. I'm new to the site. Obviously I joined for the field herp talk, but I've also been keeping reptiles since I was a young kid.... so over 30 years, I guess. Back in the 80's when I started there was no internet and very little good info on husbandry. In the early years, the animals I...

Thanks! I added my user name on my NAFHA profile earlier today.captainjack0000 wrote:Not that I know of. I would encourage you to fill out your profile on the NAFHA site with your FHF name. I think the folks organizing the Indigo hunt usually post details on when and where to meet.

Re: Southeast Chapter Member Biographies
Ignorant new guy here. I live in Huntsville, AL, and have lived most of my life in northern AL. I've been "herping" since I was old enough to explore the woods around the rural home where I grew up (I'm 38 now). Of course, I called it "looking for snakes" and I've really never go...

Re: 2015 Eastern Indigo Snake Search - Conecuh Naitonal Fore
Hey guys, I'm new so I don't have a full grasp of the rules. I live in Huntsville and I'm very interested in getting down to the Conecuh NF and trying to see some couperi in their natural habitat. I visited the NAFHA site and registered over there, and, obviously, I've joined the forum here. Is ther...
