Hi John, I use google earth on my computer, laptop, etc, and the standard preinstalled maps app on my iPhone. Re: U.S. field guides
Hi John Most of the Petersons field guides to my knowledge have the hand drawn illustrations by Stebbins, so I'm guessing the 100 photographs are in addition to those. The illustrations are really quite good and as far as I remember there are illustrations for different subspecies, color variants, a...

I own the middle version of the Tamron 90mm (also owned the first version) if you can get the newest, at the high resolution bodies it's testing quite a bit sharper (it's an already sharp lens!) It also has better weather sealing and no push and pull front. I own the first version of the Tamron 15-...

If you wait until things start to cool down, or well into hatchling season, I've noticed that cruising can be good. August is rough, especially in the high desert, but I've had decent luck in both the Mojave and Colorado deserts in September and October. Only problem is that a large portion of snake...

My knowledge of this subject is limited, but I imagine a majority of herps would be underground during a fire and would likely survive. One of my sources said that the fire is completely out and that the burned areas are north of the two birding/herping areas.
