Re: Melanistic Snake Identification Needed

It's hard to say, but to me from a defensive behavior side it's not looping its tail enough to be a ringneck. But as Paul said I would go with Mr. Hoyer's knowledge on this one.

Re: Alien Lizard Identification Needed

I wanted to say that it looked a dollar store lizard I bought my son, but I figured this must be an inside joke you had with someone. So I didn't want to ruin the fun. Definitely a toy though.

Identification Help

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this little fellow. I took these pictures at a rest stop off of the 139 in Lassen County on my way to San Diego. I am not well versed in Cal Herps yet and it looks like to me either some kind of fence or Side-blotched Lizard.

I Cannot understand why people do not use exluders. It is not a new technology, it's cheap(in this case free), and well researched and proven not to effect crab yeilds in pots. :x

Thanks techno, you as well. I am going to be carrying a copy of the email from WDFW and a copy of the RCW as instructed by WDFW, but I'm goin to try to stay hands off as it seems to be the norm amongst Washington herpers. Good luck out there.

Re: Northwest, Lacey, Olympia Washington and surrounding are

I have been searching for Rubber Boas for two years around the Brinnon area, still no finds. It is supposed to be sunny Saturday so I'm heading out to the Kent Area to hit up some of the parks out that way. But I'm still very inexperienced in this part of the country so it's more like a stroll than ...

Hey Steve, I agree with you. Herpetology is my passion. It is one of a handful of topics that I am willing to be social about. But I also need to learn what is in my new backyard. I can go read a book sure, I love to do that, but nothing beats talking with a more experienced herpers from that region...

Malaclemys terrapin Exclusion Device Voting Going on in NY

Diamondback terrapins are the wild jewels of eastern coastlines, known for their beautifully patterned shells. They also play a key ecological role by eating snails that devastate salt-marsh grasses and leave behind barren mudflats. Sadly countless terrapins are unintentionally drowned in crab traps...
