That first one gives me a Gnaphosidae vibe. Good call. Going off this I did some searching and found Sergiolus tennesseensis , which looks pretty close. Can most non-lip-curling snakes visibly see their target during a typical open-mouth strike? It would also be interesting to see if there is any control/aiming involved in the raking motion of lip-curling snakes, or if they just flail and get lucky shots sometimes.

I failed to get pics I hit the breaks, jumped out of the truck, did a full-extension dive and came up empty handed. When I got back on my feet it was gone. Even worse, I actually had my slr with me!

It is great to see that there is support for a survey. I am not sure how long the process would take before we could get started, but I think it would be interesting to do a long-term (multiple year) project to compare data with other surveys such as the Frenchtown one.
