Re: Not my pictures but you need to see these...
Andy, Thanks for sharing that. Having been to Arkansas for two consecutive years, i am a huge fan and hope to make it back down there. Was fortunate to camp for one night on the Buffalo this year (late May/Early June) and will definitely be back. Set out to visit a transplant from SW Ohio and to do ...

The Sabal Palm Cam is great quality. I work on a computer all day and I enjoyed having the cam active on the smaller laptop screen. The ads can be a bit jarring if you have your audio up. Some of what I saw: Green Jay White-tipped Dove Black-crested Titmouse Cardinal Altamira Oriole Olive Sparrow Go...

Re: A summer in the Tennessee valley and Appalachians- DUW
I really enjoyed this post! Thanks for sharing it. That Apalone is off the charts, I had no idea they could have such patterned dorsal plastrons. Aneides is top of my amphibian targets, great shot, seems I am never in their habitat during the summer. Those welleri sure are sharp looking. No muds or ...

Finally! Going down to Arkansas to visit a buddy.
I am really excited to be going down to Arkansas. Heading down there on May 19th - 24. My buddy that lives down there is not really a herper but lives somewhere around Mountain View. He has 8 acres, in a remote location, of which I'm still not totally, sure where. I know we will be doing some fishin...

Re: Midwesterner coming to the Bay Area.
Indo, Thanks for the reply and general info. Your really getting me psyched to find my first herp in CA. Today is looking like it is going to be really great weather. Do you think I should bail on poking around Marin County for something in the east bay? The weather outlook for the rest of the weeke...

Natalie thanks for the reply. I've got a clean slate when it comes to California herps. So anything would be a lifer. Finding any snake would be a home run. I love all the garter diversity out there and any constrictor would top the rattlesnakes in my opinion but I'm not sure what the status of anyt...

Midwesterner coming to the Bay Area.
I'll be in the SF Bay Area, Thursday-Sunday. Staying with my Brother in Rockridge, Oakland. I will be renting a car for the duration. Is anyone in the vicinity going herping? Would you mind if I tag along? I can offer transport on Saturday or gas money. I will have transportation on Saturday only, I...

Well i went and bought an umbrella to aid photography and some fresh batteries for the headlamp. What a deluge of rain and wind just getting from the parking lot to the store's front door. Alas, I decided not to head out. Inspite of the rain dwindling by 7pm. I did get word from another local herper...

Spring Migrants: Vernal Pool Activity
Anyone seeing any activity yet? Migrations, etc.? Here in Southwestern Ohio/Northern Kentucky we have had a couple warm weeks with some highs in the 60's and lows kind of all over the place. Today it is currently 50'ish with a nice steady rain. I guess I'll have to head out and check some spots. Jus...

Absolutely Outstanding! It's no easy task photographing the sallys. Especially, when half of them are easier to find at night, in rainy conditions. Man that looks like a great area. Love the desmog's, orange under their eye's patch.
I recently located a close by population of lucifiga. I haven't located any longicauda, they must tend to be larger.
I'm surprised to see the copperhead hanging out in pristine, cool drainages.
nice post!

I certainly like them. As of yet i haven't located any. I will probably have to travel to find them. Anyways, I finally located this old spring at one of my urban herping spots the other day. A remnant from an early farm, the foundation of the spring house is all that is left. I suspected that some ...
