Re: Milk Snakes from the last few years...Dial up warning.

So my post was quoted with a picture of known ball hybrids (and I'm familiar with most that have been made or attempted so far, part of several hybrid groups because the impact on pattern structure etc. intrigues me)...but glossed over the "intermixed" part that should be emphasized. Those hybrids ...

Re: Milk Snakes from the last few years...Dial up warning.

In that case, no it's not in the genes themselves. It's in the epigenetic regulators, the environment altering enzymatic ability to turn on and off controls for pigments and impacting methylation patterns that lock and unlock the ability to read genes. If it were genetic alteration the offspring of ...

Re: Milk Snakes from the last few years...Dial up warning.

Beyond wishful thinking, there's no signals of hybridization here, and "lateral fading" in milks is definitely not automatically some old trait passed down from longnoses. Pics are shared fairly frequently from the region where I live of milks that have lighter sides than dorsal patterning (hell the...

Re: Milk Snakes from the last few years...Dial up warning.

Having only found one in the wild so far...I need to bump up my numbers clearly. Stuck staring at that one piebald(? not really the right term but not sure what fits) one from western Kansas; that has got to be the coolest milk I've ever seen a photo of, and I'm dying now to try and figure out what ...

Re: Long-time Lurker with a Video Suite

Thanks to both; I'll admit I manage tones better in person and through videos than I do in online methods (so if I come off sounding excessively blunt, touchy, etc. in writing here, I can't process written conversation as well as verbal so I end up going straight to points more than I should) so I'm...

Re: Led Lights not as good as they look

So, basically the same issues as there are already with lights in those color spectra...problems with light pollution have been something being fought for some time now though, so it's the same principle that needs to be addressed.

Re: Long-time Lurker with a Video Suite

Thus far most of my videos have been moderately short productions; two forays to southeastern Colorado for a full weekend required longer documentation however. This was the first:

Re: Long-time Lurker with a Video Suite

Not the longest vid I've made so far, but this trip was perhaps my most exciting personally so far; after looking for years, I finally located a snake I've been wanting to see desperately:

Re: Long-time Lurker with a Video Suite

This past winter was spent making videos about the animals and plants at home (will probably be doing the same this winter since herping around here is kind of impossible in the snow), and then with spring, started out with finding frogs:

Re: Long-time Lurker with a Video Suite

Thanks for the positives! As I said I'm a tech dunce so the past year has just been a slow work in progress trying to get the videos to look better and get as much info into them as I can think of (and have a little fun along the way here and there). My next couple of vids were short clips of the fi...

Long-time Lurker with a Video Suite

I've checked in on and off to this site but never actually made an account until now; I've been a reptile nut for over 20 years, actively been out on trips solely to look for herps over the last 7 or 8 or so, and have recently attempted to take the activity to a more educational level in a couple di...
