Re: Best winter finds?

Dunno about my best winter find..... But my favorite winter finds were all 7 subspecies of Ensatina, all of the California Aneides genus, and Plethodon stormi. These salamanders are all favorites of mine. In the middle of a Peruvian winter, I found what seems to be a new species of tarantula in the ...

For me, seeing kukaburras in the wild was awesome. But a real treat for me was a hike in the forests of northern New South Wales.... I came upon a pair of Lyre birds that were scratching through the forest floor picking off insects. They were COOL!!! I was so excited! That was one of the coolest bir...

1 - How many hours/day do you spend in the field herping ? When I was living in the states, I spent a lot of time on the road herping. I lived in Washington most of my life, but moved to Arizona for 6 years. I was out herping and inverting just about every weekend (usually 3 to 4 day weekends) and d...

Here is my 2 cents... Next time you go out, be a bit more patient.... When you approach with our light, they will obviously stop calling. When this happens, just stop in your tracks and turn your light off and be patient. they will start calling again within about 5 or so minutes. When they start ca...

The scorpion you found is a male of the genus Tityus... Most likely Tityus asthenes
