Re: I wasn't convinced this was possible [Graphic]
Well I think one thing worth noting is that these people are Indonesian. According to wiki the average male height in Indonesia is 5'2 and for females it's 4'10. That only gives us a rough idea though. Indonesia spans a large area and like with any place there are a lot of ethnic groups. But if we m...

Been a long time since I posted. But saw this video linked on imgur to a low views video on youtube. So not sure if this has made the rounds at all yet. Seemed worth posting to get people's thoughts on. The way I understood it is that constrictors generally do not get big enough to fully consume an ...

Well it had slender-like shape. I wish I had a pic to get an ID. There is a scrap wood pile next to the fresh stack though that I need to clear out. So maybe I'll get a real chance at a pick over the weekend.

saw something. don't know what. no pic.
Was moving seasoned wood to a burn pile and decided to have a look under the ply board it was resting on once it was cleared. There were a lot of slenders (typical here). But, I also saw what looked like slender. But, it was orange and tiny (like half an inch and as thick as a pine needle). I got a ...

Raises the questions though. What is the biggest rattler you ("you" being whoever) have seen in ca? I seen one at about 5 feet in the low desert once with dad (might have been smaller though...it was a long time ago). And, how big do you think this one might actually be?

Forced perspective I agree. Notice how the tongs are wider with the end that is closer to the camera. The article also differs from the title (title claims 8 foot and the article says nearly 8 foot). It's a big rattlesnake. Just how big is probably exaggerated. In any case, where they found and rel...

I intentionally used slavery as an 'extreme' example, to get folks to really think about what is occuring here... taking a living creature into captivity and forcing it to do your bidding. While slavery was strictly 'for profit'... one can argue that morally this is even worse, as it's done for pro...

Re: Coalinga Horned Toad Derby
Whoa...an annual event that some people don't like is not comparable to something like slavery. Slavery was not a tradition. If it were that would suggest that it was about values a select group of people had. Slavery was (and actually still is) a world stage issue. One that when it was legal in man...

I don't think there is a humane way to deal with it. My meaning (which I failed to put across, I suppose) is that I don't think a shovel behind the head is kinder than euthanizing.
