Re: Waiting for Herps - herping while staying still
While exploring Sam Houston National Forest near Houston, I came across a pond and thought I'd walk the edge of it for western pygmies. Instead I found such a multitude of aquatic snakes (diamondback, yellow bellied, broad banded waters, western ribbons, and cottonmouths), probably 10 in a matter of...

Well done, sir. That lightning shot is just stupid!
Hope we see more of each other next year - curious to know what your targets will be, hopefully some of ours will cross over! I still need a big horridus, and maybe I can show you some blacknecks and gator lizards

Re: Austin
I won't be in town, but try a hike at Barton Creek. You'll definitely see something cool this time of year! It's a well-known hiking area, so try and go during work hours on a weekday if you can.

Re: We're Not Out of The Woods Yet (TX,LA,MS,AL,FL): 2015 EO
I'm feelin' a lot of west and central Texas this year, but I'm still lacking a lot down south and out east that is long overdue. Concerning the valley, I'm getting a little tired of the usual spots in Willacy and Cameron counties and looking to head a little more westward down there. Not to mention ...

2015 End-o'-the-year. Stuff happened.
2015 was a hell of a year, front to back. Met and hung out with some amazing dudes, lifelisted like a madman, and had enough shenanigans to last a lifetime (or until spring, anyway). So with that, let's do it! In early January I took a quick trip from Texas to Virginia to visit some old herper frien...

Herping Japan?
I've found myself super curious lately about the herps of Japan. Andrias have always been one of my bucket list species since I was a kid, and some of the rat snakes, smaller salamanders, and pit vipers are pretty neat there as well. Anyone care to share any pictures or experiences from Japan?

Mine is between an EDB and a Texas alligator lizard, though neither were technically found by me. I personally did find a corn and a patchnose with an alligator lizard in its belly. I'll share pics if anyone is interested.
