Re: Hovenweep National Monument, lizards were out
I wish that was the case in Northern Nevada. I have yet to see any lizards scurrying about but did find a recent snake skin that was pretty fresh.
Then the cold weather hit and haven't been able to sneak back out.

Nice finds! So far all I have found is a recent shed when the weather warmed up, but nothing since it started getting cold again.

Nice looking garters. I've been tempted with the warmer weather occurring in Western Nevada to go out and see if I could find anything. Your pics are just the motivation I need.

Re: Random Thought/Question
With the recent rains we had in the Sierra's I decided to go check out a small landslide that occurred near my dad's house. Other than various assortment of bugs, there wasn't a herp to be found. I have seen some garters and toads before the slide, but so far nothing after. I'm thinking that the her...

Was up in the Sierra Nevadas and snapped a quick picture of this scorpion eating a wind scorpion. Was surprised to find these guys up in the 7600 feet altitude range.

The urticating hairs are a problem if they get anywhere near your eyes. Not a fun sensation at all. Trust me on this. Trying to avoid flash photography because that tends to spook them. Try using hands with gloves to hold them. Never anything that could harm the spiders at all. Keeping them calm dep...

Re: CRAZY herp law changes in Calif
I feel for you guys in California. Here in Nevada, we have been dealing with SB245, which would have made it illegal to own certain snakes and mammals. But due to poor wording, it states I can own a human. Thankfully Nevada tends to ignore herping in general, and instead concentrates on frivolous la...

Re: The Herps are Coming Out!
The carapace problem is related to insufficient UV lighting and lack of proper diet and vitamin D. Whoever had that turtle obviously didnt know what they were doing. Probably why they eventually released it into the wild.
Still nice finds though. Good job
