Sure, why not. I am in. The weather should be good, mid 60s and full sun. I have a new spot that has been loaded with herps on previous visits.

Re: Hydrophis donaldi - news

Indigo, Have you ever been on an expedition to a remote part of the world? How would you get things like x-ray machines and ct-scanners there when just getting yourself there is near impossible? How would one even know what to look for internally in a new species that externally looks similar or ide...

Re: Most Enjoyable West TX Trip EVER!

Chris- I wish you could have made it! I have an idea. Daryl has several rental properties. We could get a group of us together and rent all of his properties. We could take turns checking out the properies. I have not been to any others but if they are anything like the Huffman pond, we can't go wro...

Most Enjoyable West TX Trip EVER!

My youngest daughter asked me several months ago to visit the desert. That is when I realized she was seven and had never seen the desert. She had missed out on every trip. That made it easy to pick a destination for an out of town trip. The Chihuahuan Desert would be our destination. Our normal mot...

strange head movement in rat snake

I have seen this head movement in prairie kingsnakes but not in great plains rat snakes. I assumed they were attempting to mimic the quick head movements of the western massasaugas that are common in the area. Have you ever seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQkNtni68u4&feature=youtube_gd...

DFWHS Herp Survey

The DFW Herp Society conducted a herp survey last weekend in Dallas county. The weather was great. The hi temp for the day was in the low 80's. The winds were light and the sun was full. The day started off slow. We did find a few TX spiny. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g294/markpyle/Dogwood%203...

Re: What Herp Societies are We Members of?

I have been a member of the Dallas Fort Worth Herp Society for over 10 years. It is a very stable society with great leadership. The newsletter is probably the best of any herp society. If anyone would like a PDF copy to review, just send me your e-mail. www.dfwherp.org

Daryl, There is no minumim age limit for a hunting license. He can get a youth license for $7 plus $10 for the stamp.

I like this idea, but I would be nice if they put a minimum age. The stamp will cost more that a youth license.

Have you contacted UTA? I know they have samples frozen for DNA use. Not sure if they have the species your are looking for but it would be worth a try. Contact info at the bottom. http://biology.uta.edu/herpetology/Herp ... ection.htm

Chris, Luke did jump out with me but could not keep up! :D I cut it off before it hit the fence line and luke was able to get it. I think I reallized this may be my only shot at getting my hands on a whipsnake.

Great trip to the Trans Pecos!

Special thanks to a great friend that talked me into getting away for the weekend! He even paid for gas! We decided to make a stop on the way for a chance at a lifer. I called a friend and got a lead on a spot for Concho water snakes. We very quickly started seeing water snakes. We found several blo...
