I've burned a U turn on a (relatively unused) stretch of I-27 nearby only to find a rubber snake (and it was a rubber snake, not a belt, tire, or any other various debris). The language I was impolitic. I was on the way to try to buy my wife a nighttime nursing bra and there was this snake perfectly...

I'm thinking that I'd build a house inside it with 2x4s or something, and mount a radiant heat panel in there. As far as water, I'd just move my 5' stock tank inside the cage and use that. It's got a drain at the bottom side of it. I may prop it up on cinder blocks to allow for a cool, elevated hide...

mostly a quality of life issue; if I built it off the back or side of my shed I could go to 12x8' or so, and provide tubs suitable for soaking and possibly branches/trunk sections for them to climb on. Seasonal outdoor cages for snakes?
Does anyone have experience with this for big snakes (my retics). There's about 4-5 months out of the year they could live outside OK I think, and I'm wondering if it might be viable to build a larger outdoor cage for them--house one outside one week, then move it back inside, and put the other one ...

The way I look at it, just searching isn't hunting--there's no take involved at all. Otherwise everyone taking pictures of deer on the roads in state parks would be breaking the law. There's also the issue of proving intent--I don't know that you can prove I was looking for snakes on the road while ...

Erh, I would avoid handling them in state parks. It is verboten. That said, I have "encouraged" a few (dozens) to get off the road by walking towards them--usually they scurry off into the brush no problem. Sometimes a crot will stand and buzz. There's a lot of discussion over if road crui...
