Re: 2020 EOY Report - Arizona
Wow! Nice photography of the usual plus rare critters of southern Arizona. Having lived there and seen these I can appreciate the great photography, and the work that is necessary to find some of these reclusive animals. The gila monsters bursting forth is wonderful, along with so many others. My l...

Just trying to show the old forum some love with an Arizona 2020 EOY report with a couple photo highlights. I was able to have at least a semi-decent year despite all the garbage that happened this year and the cancelled trips that we all seemed to have. Enjoy  Arizona As it is my home state, ...

Yeah, those conditions are pretty tough. Generally when the night temps are below freezing, things seems to stay below the frostline. However C. cerastes can sometimes be found basking outside of their burrows on unseasonably warm days with warmer night temps.

Re: Tips to find sidewinders without cruising
Great photos and question. I would add that winders will post themselves just within the shade/drip line of creosote bushes, or other shrubs, and relocate as they are exposed to the sun, just look for craters at the edges of vegetation and follow them around the bush. Found many a morning winder in...

Hello! Sidewinders are one of my favorite things to search for, and have spent a lot of time with them during the day. I have been fortunate enough to track and locate all three subspecies in various localities. Here are a couple tips and photos that may be able to point you in the right direction. ...

TV,
If you are referring to the "Arizona Black Rattlesnake", yes it is lighter, but it is a smaller snake with some brighter coloration which isn't out of the ordinary for the species. But I don't see how the Blacktails were any different from normal?
