Re: NAHERP AND OCD

Well, the trip was somewhat successful - I closed out Texas and Louisiana. Lots of DOR records, but whatever. My last week was not so great in West Texas and New Mexico, it was awfully hot and dry and nothing much seemed to show but it was still fun and even managed a few unexpected lifers. I have m...

Yes to the money facing the same way and the volume needing to be at regular intervals (for me it's 5). I also count stairs--number of steps per landing, etc. For example, in the last building where I worked, there was a landing between each floor (i.e. two flights of stairs), and four stairwells t...

Hi guys - I finally got to log onto the internet (at some random Texas Starbucks) after non-stop driving through Texas since Saturday night. From the time I left work until about Monday night-ish, I had slept a total of 5 hours. Not that that is an amazing feat, it's just amazing that I do it withou...

NAHERP AND OCD

Finishing work around 3am tonight then heading to Florida for some Everglades herping and possibly committing suicide by mosquito bites. My OCD, however, has kept me up sleepless nights staring at all of the unvouchered counties in the great state of Texas. Thus, in the next week my goal is to close...

Hi Chris M! No, I will be avoiding that area like the plague. As fun as it would be to meet up with others from the forum or from NAFHA I don't enjoy the big group outings with herpers tripping over each other in the field or on the roads and what not. That's why I avoid the National meets as well a...

Re: HERPS OF TEXAS . ORG

.............. The Inaturalist Herps of Texas project is OK for generating approximate range maps for some species. Also, Troy and Toby Hibbitts (et al) have just updated the field guides to all the Texas herps (except snakes for which Werler and Dixon is still the bible). Thanks again, Chris! I've...

HERPS OF TEXAS . ORG

Does anyone know who is in charge of this site and when it will be back up? I'll be coming through again in a month and this site was my favorite and a very useful guide last summer. I was pretty let down last week when I saw that this site was down for maintenance (or whatever). Anyone?

While I always appreciate healthy sceptiscism, and appeals to logic... i think the logistics of getting a wild Catalina fox to perform on command, (set up a fake vid) outweigh the chance of this being an authentic event. Still trying to write up my year end but the only reason why I like this pic is because it is as found at 2:30 am crawling up a rock cut. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e354...

The person who found the zonata with the fox is Richard Cazares, a (former?) forum member (Desertworx) who has found and recorded in the HERP database quite a few other zonata over the years. In other words, I have absolutely no doubt about the reliability of this report. There are zonata on Catali...

They don't necessarily get red. Some stay that brownish color even into adulthood, I think it depends on maybe their locatality.
