Re: Coastal Ecuador 2013: Part 1
Great Post Zach! Thanks for putting together such a great summary of the trip. I like that you covered the personal side of the trip as well as the wildlife. After these trips I look back and usually have nothing but macro herp shots, so it's nice to see some of the human side of things as well. I l...

Re: Ecuador - Mindo Region report
Ecuador certainly is a wonderful place! About the size of Colorado, has a coastline, mountains, and the Amazon, and is ranked towards the very top in terms of species diversity! Can't beat that too easily. Great post too! Its not always easy to find the herps down there, but you can make up for that...

Re: advice wanted: herping in the Ecuadorian Andes (Quito)
You will certainly have to get away from Quito to get good herp diversity (even if Quito is a fun place to party, enjoy some good salsa music, and drink Pilsener). The road running east from quito that heads towards Baeza and Tena (as mentioned above) is always a scenic and fun trip to make. On this...

Awesome series Trey! I love all those brightly patterned babies - makes me realize that I need to get more shots of young individuals of a few species.
That acutus on the rock is also a pretty awesome pic too. I'm surprised it didn't slide off before you got the shot.
Cheers,

Awesome post Chad. A lot of very cool photos in there. That C.oreganus must have been a nice one to cross off the list.
Just curious, what festivals/ bands were you heading out west to see?

Awesome photos! You definitely have great control of that camera! When you visit a place like Ecuador, with that kind of bird diversity, you HAVE to post it! That antpitta is definitely a nice one to get! I've heard that they've been baiting them for sometime now in that area and have no problem get...

Great stuff! I love the shot of the monkey skull with the beads. And that shot of the wire tailed manakin is fantastic - those are pretty cool little birds. I can't believe it sit still long enough for you to snap that picture!

Thanks for getting me my dose of the tropics! Were your Bothrops found where you took those pictures? I've always heard that they are commonly fo...

When I see a really nice picture on the forum I'm always the person who asks the question, "What kind of setup are you using?" I don't know what it is, but I find it interesting to see what type of equipment other photographers are using. Maybe it's because knowing what other people use an...

Re: Using Wireless Remotes
bgorum-the idea is that I can set up the camera on the tripod aimed at where I want the shot. Then with remote in hand I can move out in front of the camera to deal with/ pose the animal. I guess the idea is that it would be easier to deal with the animal with a small remote in hand rather than the ...

Using Wireless Remotes
We all know how difficult it can be to work with a wild animal while shooting. I've been particularly frustrated when attempting to take pictures of quick moving snakes at night. At times I feel like I need 4 hands to get the shot I want; one to focus the camera, one to arrange lighting, and two to ...

Now on a related question to what Lizardman brought up, is HDR something that can only be done on the computer using software and the RAW files? Or are HDR images produced using the auto bracketing function on the camera?

Re: Questions about bracketing
Great explanation! Thanks so much bgorum! I had a feeling that bracketing was something done more commonly by film users, but wasn't really sure why DSLR's continued to offer the setting. I guess when I'm slightly altering my exposure by hand I'm essentially doing what the bracketing setting would d...

Questions about bracketing

Awesome stuff here! I really like some of those frog shots towards the bottom. And that jumping Cane Toad shot really reminds me of a shot I captured once of a Agalychnis callidryas in Belize (Ill see if I can track it down). Overall great stuff! And thanks for getting some tropical stuff up on here...
