The Tennessee Herpetological Society is going to be having their annual meeting & outing at the Knoxville Zoo this month. I can't remember the exact weekend, it usually runs Friday through Sunday. They rotate which part of the state they have it in each year. This would be an excellent opportuni...

Re: Blackwater River State Forest?
I went twice a few years ago when we were vacationing at Navarre Beach and I only found 3 racers, but I wouldn't say that it's bad for snakes. It was just that I was by myself and had never been there before and really did not know the best places to look for what I was hoping to find. I went on 1 d...

I would like to go this weekend too but it depends on my son's sports schedule. I haven't heard from anyone who has been already. We had some really warm days in March followed by below average temps and lots of wind and rain last week (plus a few frost advisories), so who knows what it will be like.

My family and I will be in Myrtle Beach, July 9 - 14. My son's baseball team will be competing in a World Series tournament. I have no idea what our schedule will be like. It depends on how they do in their games. If anyone in the area is available during that time or can give me any pointers, it wo...

Re: Coppers in mid TN??
If you're willing to go this far, try the southern part of LBL that's in TN counties. They're definitely abundant in the KY part. The heat and humidity is supposed to be back next week so I would think you would be almost guaranteed of seeing one.

Josh, I have exactly the same thoughts as you about road cruising in my area so far. I've struck out and feel like I'm wasting gas. I'm also frustrated because we had lots of snow this winter and a cooler, wetter than normal spring. So I thought I would be doing better by now. Your post is awesome, ...

Mike,
I guess this means the next time I'm in Orlando I won't be able to look you up for herping. Judging by this post, maybe I should just cut to the chase and come visit you where you're living now (ha ha). Fantastic, too many favorites for me to even narrow it down. Thanks.

Todd,
Absolutely awesome. Jason mentioned your new camera and I'm in the market for one. If you don't mind me asking, what are you using in all of these shots? Merry Christmas to you and everyone else. Thanks.

I just posted on the regular forum that I'm coming, so don't "double count" me. I just thought since this is the region I'm in I should probably RSVP here as well. My son Eli and I will be there Friday or Saturday. Hope this helps in planning. Sorry I didn't reply before now. Thanks.

Sorry I didn't RSVP before now, but my son Eli and I will be there. We're 1 hr. 15 min. away so I'm not exactly sure when we will be arriving yet, but it will most likely be Fri. or Sat. I don't think we'll be there Sun. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Norman, Being a high school teacher, I assure you my kids have had plenty of dad time this summer. Even when things are hectic during the school year and I may have 3 or 4 basketball games to coach in a week, I still make time for them. Plus I'm going to spend all day with them and then go at night ...

Re: Common stuff from the last couple weeks
Todd,
I wish the hognose and milks were "common" for me here. I haven't found either one of those in a few years. Usually the rats are common for me, but I've yet to find a live one this year. I think I've found 5 DOR rats so far. Nice shots, thanks for sharing.

Paul, Yes, I'm planning on leaving my wife and kids (and my mother-in-law) there while I go road cruising at least once while I'm there. I may also get up real early and check out some sand roads before they get up and go to the park. I figure I can nap on the rides when I get back. Daniel, I'm with...

I have to agree with Natalie and Mike. If it weren't for my kids begging us to go, we wouldn't be going. But I think it will work out well for both parties. We can go park hopping during the day and I can cruise at night. Hopefully I'll see something I don't get to see up here. Thanks for the dining...

Going to Disney next week
My family and I will be on vacation at DisneyWorld (Orlando) from July 16 - 22. I'll have a rental car so I was hoping to do some road cruising at night. It's brutally hot here right now so I know it's probably a tough time to find much. But if anyone is available during that time and wants to meet ...

Justin, Yeah that was me. We lived in Nashville from '94 - '07 before moving back to our hometown. I need to get a shot of a cyclopion, fasciata and a better erythrogaster shot and I'll have the Nerodias covered. Thanks.

Okay, here we go again. I gave up trying to use Shutterfly (my wife already had it so I thought I might be able to use that) and created a Photobucket account. I hate moving and swore the last time that I wouldn't be doing it again for a long time. But, dang, if I thought I could find all the species in your thumbnails by moving across country, I might have to reconsider. Thanks for posting those and welcome as the others have said.

Nice photos, including the habitat. Not asking for specific location, but were you anywhere near the Jackson Purchase area? Just curious, because I live in Paducah. Thanks.

Dave, I was being patient for the season to start until I saw this. Now I can't wait to get started. Eli wanted his props on the field researcher credits (just kidding). He did, however, want to know if that single eastern ribbon by itself was one of his (ha ha). To borrow from baseball... "Let...
