LD50's give the relative potency of the venoms but does not take into consideration the equally important factor of the volume of venom injected. I think it is a pine vole, the genus has changed several times, but check out Microtus pinetorum.

I think that it is a safe bet the crocodiles are farmed. It is also possible that the frogs and turtles have been farmed. Evidently there are some really massive turtle farms in China producing millions of turtles.....a lot come back here as exactly turtles that are just in excess of the 4 inch rule...

Great post Dave. It really looks like a fun trip, especially siting in my recliner. Sorry about the bite but at least it was a "legitimate" bite and now you are a member of a special club.
