I am looking into snake breaking a friends bird dogs with using a few captive rattlesnakes. I stumbled across this thread on a forum concerning sewing the mouths shut, and defanging them..Ignorant ass Florida Hicks. And I live in this great state.

I kept easterns for years...toads are 80% water 20%parasites lol....just gut load the toads with pinkies....Ive heard the hair from rodents may be a cause of problems so this solved that issue. As far as eating other prey, they definately do. Tree frogs and most other amphibians would get scarfed up...

trouble feeding het. kennerlyi for 2 months....fresh suhi grade salmon does the trick everytime.....any benefits or negatives to the practice....so much easier than mice...

thanks chance.....only ever used spadefoots for scenting trouble eaters. Decided to try fresh fish.

never heard of it natually but really find it hard to believe that someone hasnt done it in captivity. Once all the traits are bred out and the money making has run its course, then comes the hybrids.......Cant wait till the scaleless easterns produced last year at glades are crossed with a supercon...

I myself have purchased normal western hognoses last years neos for 35 bucks....mostly you will see them for around 50 but if you pay close attention to the classifieds like I did you will find some great deals...I got 1.2 mexican hognose neonates, 1.2 sub adult normal westerns for 250.00 shipped......

check out kingsnake classifieds....there are tons of breeders of western hogs. And several in south florida. But driving 4 hours for a 35 dollar snake is a bad idea. There are tons of great breeders all over the internet who will next day ship well established captive hogs for less than a 100.

This particular property is loaded with whips....of the dozen or so Ive seen 3 were this same variation.....the rest were super blonde and black hearded...I too was suprised at its laid back temperment....I did sit and observe for a while and it was rubbing its nose on the bushes and ground I figure...
