Fantastic narrative, photos and adventure. The snakes down there are friggin gorgeous. Especially like that Lyre. This post was better than most of the movies I've seen this year.

Great looking Speck. How big was it? Looks like one I saw in S.B. Co. at 6am that saved us from a skunky night. All the ones I've seen have been in the 2.5-3' range. Toss up betwen them and rubers for the most beautiful CA crotes, but then again I've never seen a Panamint :( .

Yeah, I agree with Fieldnotes, NatGeo quality. I love the pic of that Verdugo King. One of the best looking coastals I've seen.

Great job, man. Finding Gilas in 2 different states, outstanding. That pair Utah desert phase CalKings is cool too. I like the thin white bands and the high blacks. For some reason the kings in Utah and Nevada all look like they have moustaches.

What a rockin' post. Love the pics of everything you saw on your atrox quest! By the pics of the Specks I'm guessing it's the same road/area where I saw my first one as well. The early am coyote and roadrunner pics were classic. Very very enjoyable reading and viewing. Herp on.

Nice looking helleri. Still amazed at how variable they are, even within locale specific pockets. You'll probably be seeing alot of them this season due to how dry it is. Last year (also dry in my neck I went to board sites that had yielded a variety of snakes previously and saw mostly helleri. reak...
