I use a Fenix Tk40 and just got the TK 35. Used the 35 last weekend in West Texas and it was fantastic! Also use a coast 175 lumen headlamp.

Nice finds. Your banded rock is actually a mottled rock though. Banded rocks are lepidus klauberi. What was the locality of the alterna? Black Gap maybe? Just curious but did you collect everything you found?

Great shots Nathan. I really like the way the banded gecko and roundtail pics came out. The cemetary shot is great. That is definitely one i would frame and hang. Can't wait to go back with ya.

I've only found 1 and it was in Laredo. Flipped over a rotten prickly pear that was laying on the ground. Wasn't really expecting to find anything. lol.

Thanks for the replies guys. The DOR's definitely sucked. Snakes were moving and we just happened to be a few minutes behind all the deaths it seems. This is 3 years in a row we have found a grayband for a total of 5. I sure hope to get back out there this year. I need a live TP copperhead! :) Chris

Great finds. That slowinski has outstanding color. I've seen quite a few from the area and that is by far the best i've seen yet. To bad about the horridus. I found a DOR juvie last week as well. Looks like it was a good trip.

I have that one. It's pretty good but it doesn't have any snakes in it. You could get it and then get Werler and Dixons "Texas Snakes" or Alan Tennant "Texas Snakes" to go with it.

I think you cut it a little close with that mojave. From that angle it looked like he could have had you if he wanted you since he was sitting on the hook and not curled around it.

I agree you should leave the snake where he is. Chances are you are going to stress and hurt the animal trying to remove it. If you do get it out chances are it will be mad and bite you. We had a large natural tank setup years ago and my kids put a few Rio Grandes from our backyard in the setup. I was looking around the cage one day and found 10 or so baby frogs climbing around the cage. Flipped a piece of corkbark and found eggs. They are cool little frogs.

We found an adult yellowbelly racer crossing the road around midnight a few weeks ago. I just figured it may because its been so hot during the day. I've only found easterns morning and dusk.
