I think all the wild herps left in Florida and Pennsylvania for that matter are breathing a sigh of relief.

That'd be cool Phil. I'm definitely going to give that area another look next spring. I was talking to an old college buddy and he has some land in Burnett County that sounds very promising. I'm going to spend the winter planning my trips for next season

Re: BIG Wisconsin Bullsnake
Hey Phil, have you had any luck in that area near your cabin? I've been meaning to make a fall trip up there but I haven't got around to it. I've been real happy with my finds this year. The timbers and bullsnake were the highlights. Next year I hope to photograph a non all black eastern hoggy and a...

BIG Wisconsin Bullsnake
I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather that mother nature has been dishing out here in Wisconsin, so I checked a couple spots Tuesday afternoon. Imagine my joy when I cam across this BIG Wiscosnin Bullsnake. I almost couldn't believe my eyes, all five feet of him stretched out catching some ...

Re: Michigan Native Snake Breeding/Selling
The Michigan possession limit for snakes and lizards is 6 total in combination. If you have more than 6 native snakes in your possession (regardless of how they were acquired), you are likely breaking the law.
Re: beware
Of course Ben.
Re: beware
I like 98% of the folks there didn't touch a rock little alone a snake at the location. As you mentioned a DNR snake fungal expert accompanied us and to my knowledge had no objections to either the number of folks or to any of the activities that occurred that day. I was very grateful to have the ch...
Re: beware
If they suspected the men of poaching then they should have performed their duties and checked the men for contraband. Cool but productive July day in Wisconsin
Headed to one of my favorite spots a few weekends ago. I really wasn't expecting to find anything as temperatures struggle to hit 65 degrees, but it turned out to be a pretty productive day. I found: 5 eastern garter snakes 2 adult redbellied snakes + young 1 brownsnake 1 spotted salamander 1 tiger ...

Out of curiousity I checked out the ******** area today. The gnats and horseflies were terrible but I still managed to hike the entire trail. Wooded area with sandy soil and two teirs of bluffs. Very few rocks that were loose or small enough to move. I saw a turtle's nest that had been uncovered by ...

I usually shoot in landscape profle which I think adds some brightness and saturation to the photos.

I'm not familiar with **********, I'll have to check a map. What kind of materials did you put down. I have had good luck with unsanded plywood and tin sheets. Garters seem to prefer the plywood. I think because it allows more moisture to get underneath. If there are garters in the vacinity they wil...

It was a 90+ degree day and it's shell was all dried out. I thought it might be dead at first. You might be right but I don't think they lay eggs this late in the season, it is Wisconsin afterall. I'm pretty sure I did it a favor.

Found this nice painted turtle as I was walking down a trail today. His shell was all dried out and he was a long way from any pond. Poured some bottled on him and stuck him in my bag. Snapped a few photos and then relocated him to a nearby lake. My good deed for the week. http://i599.photobucket.co...

I recently photographed these frogs in southcentral Wisconsin. I think they are either mink or green frogs and there was no shortage. Was hoping to find some watersnakes but no such luck. http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt79/HeavenHell_photo/IMG_0319.jpg http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt79/He...
