Those 2 should be in a different album. Those were both found in Seqouia National Park. On our way back from Granite Mountains we were asked where we wanted to go. I requested to look for some Zonata. I still to this day have not seen one. (except a whole bunch of frozen specimens in the lab freezer...

Have You Viewed Cooperative Garter Hunting Behavior?
I remember seeing a video around here a couple of years back or so. I am trying to locate it for a professor of mine at UCSC, and proposing to do some research on this behavior.
Has anyone else witnessed this in the field? What species of garter? Any pictures, or videos?
Thanks,
Brad

Thought it could be a SF. I hadn't seen either before, and the day was spent finding Tiger Salamanders, Santa Cruz long toed salamanders, and Red Legged Frogs. With so many endangered species seen today, I though we may have been lucky.

I flipped for a good part of the day today, and found only a few lizards, a couple of frogs, and 3 arboreal salamanders. Still no snakes for me in Monterey County this year. Interesting thing about extra toes and limbs in salamanders is that it is usually caused by a parasite (trematodes of some species or another) and the idea behind it is it slows the host salamander down so they are more prone to predation, and the next part of the parasites life cycle begins in the...

I think so too
He was owned by a 14 year old who he bit. He was pretty fiesty when I got him about 2 months ago, but has calmed down with a lot of handling. I also suspect he was underfed, he was fed pinkies. In two months he has gone from 69g to 90g, and eats like a champ!
