North Central Indiana in the Summer

Hi everybody, I have to head to Indiana for some family matters and I haven't been to the state since 2005. I haven't really herped it since college which was longer ago than that. I'm not asking for any locations in particular, but what could I reasonably expect to find there in the middle of the s...

Re: Disfigured Marbled Salamander (kinda gross!)

I showed it to a number of herpetologists and they all have different ideas. One said crayfish or small turtle, one suggested a garter or water snake. I hope the location is not well known. I have never encountered other herpers there, but it isn't exactly difficult to get to either.

Disfigured Marbled Salamander (kinda gross!)

Hey yall, Over the weekend I checked out a known breeding spot in N. Florida for A. opacum and found this young male with a severely injured face. Any guesses as to what caused this? Has anyone ever seen something similar? Cheers, -NM https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49341878541_3cce37a588_c.jpg ...

Be careful herping in the National Park. I've heard of people getting citations for moving even burms off the road. If you see anything, I would just observe and photograph.

June 25th, 2019 was the day. This was the day the coachwhip decided to eat a rodent. On a whim, after years of catching anoles, I bought a fuzzy from the pet shop dropped it in the tank. Lightning quick as ever, the little bugger shot out his hide and inhaled the rodent. It was alive, but completely...
