Three years later.... Anybody mount a camera on their bumper (facing forward) in order to get a close look at suspicious objects in the road (rope, sticks, rocks, etc)? Seems like it could be handy to decide whether or not to get out of the vehicle to check something out. You'd need a monitor inside...

Actually yes. Heard or saw Ash-throated Flycatcher, Western Kingbird, Lawrence's Goldfinch, and lots of quail. Owen found a nest with 25 eggs. Last year I found a quail nest with 18 eggs. Quail are making a comeback.

I purchased the boards when I was managing that Wildlife Area, so the State bought the plywood. Will probably do the Yolo Bypass survey the first weekend in April, but we'll see if the place floods this year. That could delay things. Otherwise, I'd also like to do a survey in the Coast Range near San Luis Reservoir. Same time period, late March/early April.
