Re: Info request-Southern California octopi
California Two Spotted Octopus. I caught many when I lived in San Diego at the tide pools in La Jollla. Never got bit or heard of anyone getting bit. I actually had one in a 130 gallon aquarium for almost a year. I released him back in the spot I caught him in. Very intelligent creatures.

Re: Nylon Mesh Snake Death Trap
Yes, I used to use this mesh netting on my fruit trees and koi pond in the winter. It trapped lots of birds and a couple of really nice Bull Snakes, I quit using it.

Re: Anyone knowledgable about envenomation relative to canin
Sorry, I guess the link won't work because it's not open to the public. Here is the text: A year ago our dog Meadow was pretty sick from a rattlesnake bite. She recovered fully, and was normal and healthy until about 7 weeks ago, when she began to show neurological issues, (head tilt, stumbling, etc...

Anyone knowledgable about envenomation relative to canines?
My Sister, who lives in Oregon, is having health issues with her dog. The dog was bitten by a croat about a year ago, in an area I personally know to have ton of C. Oreganus around (the snake was never seen). The became very sick, but recovered after a couple weeks. All of a sudden this year, she ca...

Re: Car rental question
I do it all the time because part of my work is travel. Buy one of those little ashtrays that fit in drinkcup with a closable lid. Put a little water in the bottom so butt goes out immediately. Turn fan on high and with floor output, if it comes out the dash it will scatter ashes which is the bigges...

Wow, that a nice King. I was down there at White Sands Missile Range all week. Is it true they like to eat Crote's?
Re: A Puzzle
That a really cool picture. I was born and raised in SD, lived there from 1958 till 1998. I had a friend who I herped with, he taught me how look for tracks and showed me how you could sometimes tell what kind of snake it was, and yes those are definitely Croats. The terrain looks very familiar to m...

That is truly sad. I wonder if the person (s) even know what they did, what stupidity. I knew better when I was a teen flipping rocks and boards.

Re: Greenish and maroon cal king found...
I had a striped CA King as a pet back in the 70's in San Diego. It escaped in the house and was not rediscovered until 6 months later when it crawled across my mothers legs while she was sitting on the toliet. I promptly recaptured and fed and released, fortunately, we lived in a semi-rural area the...

Re: Another rare SD find
We used to catch these all the time when I was growing up in SD, 60's/70's. We erroneously reffered to them as "Green" Racers.
Mostly in coastal canyons near water, in tall grass. They were all most as common as the garter snakes.

Jeff, Those pictures sure bring back some memories, I grew up in SD back in the 60's-80's. Those costal canyon pools looked pretty familiar. I remember catching Aboreal's during the rainy season at night, I also remember finding out they are capable of a pretty good bite! We used to catch a lot of r...
