Finally had time to come back to this post... read and enjoyed all of it! Thanks for sharing your herping experiences. I know there were a couple of herp species you really wanted to see in AR, but didn't even glimpse. The early season was probably against you on those. Sorry your amphiuma got away,...

Terrific stuff, Nick. I was waiting patiently to see your AR Mudsnake photos!!! HA! Enjoyed meeting you for dinner on your way through AR; found out (literally today!) that "vanishing" BBQ joint moved just up the road.

I've been buried with other things since the trip. I'll hopefully have a little report put together before long. Weather kind of made things tough with the herps; alternator going out on my truck made things tough on me personally; but the people were great!

Also heard peepers for about 2 days last week in NW Arkansas...but mostly quiet since then. I did hear just a few at dusk tonight. I have a pond not far and it is crazy with peeper each year. I have a collecting permit, so I could pick up a few for you if logistics can be worked out.

For those activities in AR, you would minimally require a fishing license (to run minnow traps and/or pursue aquatic species, including salamanders, turtles, etc.).
