A mile from the pond is well within reach of a turtle. Males will travel to different bodies of water in search for females. I do not not know the limits to the distance they can travel unfortunately. Good luck with your search!

Very nice shots! I love the Humpback Whale shots, especially since once could can see the small fish the whale is preying upon. Nice to see someone else taking some time at the beach now that snake season is slowww.

Cool post and nice species variation. So far the two coachwhips I have managed to catch look pretty stereotypical as far as the species goes.
