August Road cruising in SoCal

I haven’t done much road cruising this year. I’m considering going with a friend in the SoCal high desert next week. Anybody have any insight on cruising this late in the summer? Daytime temps are about 100 with evenings in the 80’s-90’s.

Early morning road cruising

Any SoCal people have any luck road cruising early morning to dawn, or is it almost exclusively dusk to midnight seeing results? With the 90+ temps during the day can any time at night be decent?

Mangrove Snakes in CA?

My friend has a couple of Boiga dendrophila in Massachusetts where virtually everything requires a permit except the mangroves. I think I heard that mangrove snakes were legal in California without a permit at one time. Is that still the case here? It doesn't seem to be addressed specifically on the...

Re: Fallbrook Land Conservancy survey - Sat. April 2nd

Hi Jeff,

I may be able to go. How harsh is the hiking? I'm healing from knee surgery but I can comfortably do some hilly area, just not hard hiking.

Late January Finds...

Hi all... Surfinherp and I took a walk early last week in Northern San Diego County and ran into a few cool finds. I had a blast poking around and finding these folks. I'm enjoying reading everything offered here and I look forward to learning! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-D3VAgbPOOao/VNGt-mfm...
