Re: bird lens

It sounds like you mind is made up. Go with your gut.

That said, I doubt you will be shooting at ISO 3200 or more all that much. A camera not having ISO > 3200 will not at all prohibit you from using it. Have you shot with an SLR before?

10mp is more than enough believe me. Listen to the advice you are getting. Many of the photos on this site are taken with Canon 20Ds, 30Ds, 40Ds, etc. I shoot with a Nikon D200, probably 5 years old now, 10mp. I also keep putting money into glass and have just repaired my camera a couple of times. I...

As a physican and a herper second, I don't lose too much sleep over Lyme disease. All of us should routinely perform thorough tick checks when we get back from the field. Re: Carrying a 70-200 zoom in the field

I do a lot of canoeing every year and have made a few long trips to the tropics. For completely waterproof bags, or as close as it gets, I recommend a dedicated dry bag, such as the ones made by SeaLine. Just do a search for drybags and you get a ton of different options. Carrying a 70-200 zoom in the field

For those of you with some of the larger zooms, what is your setup for carrying your lenses? At this point I am not interested in picking up a dedicated camera bag. Much of this is an ISO issue. Your first 2 shots have ISO 1600. This is why your images are so grainy. The next 2 have ISO 400, which for most point and shoots is still going to look fairly grainy. The last shot with ISO 100 is actually a pretty nice shot. Your shutter speed is 1/80, which could be ...
