My guess is you will be moving animals off the road and possibly measuring and sexing them. Bring your camera. I wouldnt bring any of your own gear unless you plan to disinfect it first.

Steve, what value does your record have it you cant say where it was from? Do you at least have the locality field filled out, like the name of a park, etc? If that is the case, it is understandable that you might not know the GPS for historic records. In this case, just mark the center of the park ...

red salamander eggs have only rarely been observed. Great find! Im not so sure about that being a "pair." Male parental care is extremely rare in salamanders and I do not think it has been documented in Plethodontids.

Thanks guys. I did not realize they were still putting out hard copy editions once the online version was launched. I guess the online version is not as high on the priority list.

Someone asked me today how to join NAFHA. Typically, I would send them to the FAQ , which directs them to sign up with HERP. The process is still on-going.

That paragraph was left there because we didnt want to loose that information. It needs to be copied to an NAFHA page, and then it be rewritten to reflect HERP only.

You tell me which is a better match , the pictures were drawn like that for a reason. I think you are trying to put a round peg in a square hole because something is slightly "off" on a species you are very familiar with, so you are trying to assign it an ID of a species that you are much less famil...

You'd be surprised at how often the people who we consider experts are often wrong with Photo ID. Go back in the spring, I'm sure you'll be able to find it again. You need a shot of the hind marginals and a better angle on the plastron would be good.
