Flickr has multiple URLs for each photo so you can post which ever size you choose, be sure you click on biggest size before copy/pasting the photo link - they just changed some things which I have used so it might be more confusing that it was. Great writer, been reading his stuff for a while now - check out some of his other books. "The Year of the Turtle" is another great read but my favorite from him was his sort of autobiography, "A Self-Portrait with Turtles". Great stuff.
