Hi Jerry, fun site! :thumb: ...but the page takes way too long to download due to the huge image sizes. All the images I looked at were well over 2MB. At that size they should probably be around 200K max for web presentation. Anything more won't improve the quality

Thanks, never really considered that "THE" high desert but guess it is, by elevation anyway. When we talk about High Desert here it's pretty much the Mojave, or much of it anyway. ...and a ruber there would be pretty special :)

Nope, haven't been in that area for almost a year. Didn't know oreganus looks like that out that way. The three I've seen look nothing like that. Also, I've seen a few pits out that way and none looked anything like that.

The "Scarlet Tanager" is not, but pretty sure it's Summer or possibly Hepatic. Definitely a Peregrine. Remember that judging relative size with no objective comparison is difficult and the perception may be smaller or larger depending on a variety of factors. Looks like some really fun birding! :beer:

Robert, guess I was vague about that. It was found in the hills above, probably around 4,000 feet. The area probably looks a lot like where the habitat shot in Will's NAFHA record. ...in fact, wonder where that is.

This was found in hills just northwest of Mojave.

Never knew they got so yellow like that. Even more bitchener than the normals.
