Re: Photoshop/ImageReady help

I've not tried saving as PSD. The template is the border I use around my images. The file is saved as an optimized JPG. Now that you mention it, that may be why I'm losing the guides when I come back at a later date for more photo work. EDIT: I took the jpg template, guided it the way I needed and t...

Photoshop/ImageReady help

Using CS2.... I'm working on a "small" project and can't seem to figure out how to get ImageReady or Photoshop to keep the guidelines (vert and horiz) that I've dragged for placement for aligning text/images after saving the file. I can't quite seem to word the search correctly via google either, wh...

Re: prettiest snake

Thanks for the bonus photo of the Chihuahuan lyre, too! (That photo should be labeled Trimorphodon vilkinsonii , though. ;) ) Gerry No worries Gerry, that labeling was done pre-knowledge of taxonomic change. I couldn't find the larger version (same size as the blacktail photos) which is corrected f...

Re: prettiest snake

Gorgeous snakes all, to be sure! (Though I suspect y'all know what species gets my vote. ;) ) The stunning crotes that Jordan just put up made me wonder, though, where are the blacktails? I've always thought of them as the prettiest of the rattlers... Gerry Ask and ye shall be bombarded  h...

Re: The Trans-Pecos Trip...Pic heavy

Thanks. Actually they are HDR photography. Regular camera, tripod mounted fired with a remote release. 5 shots (4 in some case) shot at -2, -1, 0 and +1. The photos are then stacked on top of one another and blended with a program called photomatix and tweaked to bring out the best exposed portions...

Re: Something's in the air...

I'm working on that; I've got a void between El Paso, TX and Eddy County, NM to fill. Unfortunately working on that currently involves a new hub assembly, new CV axles, and an alignment. As soon as that happens, well we'll see. I did score a different "shiny-skin" last weekend. EDIT: CREEPY! UPS jus...

Re: Well...

Thanks guys. Tim, I'm mostly a 1 trick pony show with my photos via lens choice and that'd be the Nikkor 60mm f/2.8. However, in this case I busted out my crappy and very old version of Nikon's 70-300mm for the turtle shots and my D70's old kit lens, the 18-70. Bill, I like picture books anyhow, mak...

Bill (Gorum)... Pretty awesome account, particularly photo wise; I've only seen it on the road and with semi-fresh prey. I think Paul Huang had posted something years back of a prairie scavenging a k-rat or some type of roadkilled rodent from the SW portion of the state. Matter of fact I believe tha...

Love the macro work, only wish I was as patient. Unfortunately, when herping with friends they'd rather be looking f...

Re: A few pics from this year

Nice set of pics. The frog looks like p. triseriata , but I'm not good with frogs so don't take that to serious. It use to be triseriata, but it's now been changed to maculata; I believe maculata was the subspecies and the "western form" of triseriata was elevated to maculata and dubbed the Boreal ...

I don't have any spare money to willingly throw about (not saying those of you using Pbase, etc do either) so I utilize webspace already paid for...I use my ISP (comcast) and whatever space they offer; last I'd checked it was 25gigs. Hell, if I had the money I'd probably pay for hosting and a domain...

As far as the topic goes, I have an interesting question... the good old days on the "not allowed" fieldherping forum came up... I was there starting August 98 as Chris G. and later as Mr. Sonora. Just curious who else was around. Here is an incomplete list of the members I remember: Tim Burkhardt ...

Opinions

I posted a teaser over in the Rocky Mountain forum, but figured I'd get opinions here on this HDR shot. As a topic currently running points out, this was taken with what I'd lean towards being one of my worst pieces of camera equipment: my Nikkor 18-70 D70 kit lens. You'll notice in the picture that...

The winner is...Tacoma! I drove one a few minutes ago and loved it. Now we just have to agree on a price and from what I hear Toyota dealers do not come off their prices much. Not to jack this thread, but I have seen a couple of you guys talk about newer 4x4s with locking rear diffs (Toyotas, Nissans). Are you talking about some built-in (i.e. stock) air lockers? Or are you just talking about stock LSD rears? Just curious as I was not aware of any new vehicles that came ...
