Re: Rarest Cal King

The coastal LA morphs, seem to be represented by the least number of specimens. I'd say patternless, whittier and mud morph, are the most rarely encountered. LA newporters are found in small numbers almost every year or so.. But there are many specimens found in other counties in Ca, that are one of...

Thanks again everyone, for the replies... The interest in the gator is surprising! They have many different patterns here in LA, and you find several a year with abnormal markings.. In town, I used to find a lot of Gilberts skinks and the ocasional snake.... Gophers, kings, maybe a Northern Pacific rattler or two.. The mountains don't have a lot of access, but the cummings valley, west of the prison, has lots of rock piles where rattlesnakes will be seen easily in April.. I'd a...

The Bay Boys have been chastised before... the Somoans, Brazilians, anyone who's willing to fight, can go down there and surf.. Breakwall locals are the worst, a bunch of hawaiian transplants trying to turn a two bit jetty wave into a Pipeline-like gladiator pit.. Never been out at Lunada though, an...

Jonathan, I'm sad to say, I have never seen any of those listed in PV.. but I feel some of those could be present in the largest undeveloped area up there, the preserve near Portagues Bend. As far as the Horned lizards, your probably right.. but I think its a possability.. They are found on LAX prop...

I know P.V. well (grew up in Torrance), and I know of a couple of short sections of road I've thought of cruising, but i think it would be a generally pretty uneventful place to cruise.. Even though, I've seen tons of DOR snakes over the years, I just don't think cruising would be as effective as sp...

Wow this is a good thread! Brian, I saw an episode this week where 2 minors were given a ticket for spotlighting... Is that against the law in this state? did you see that one? Cool stuff and I'm sure we're all looking at some of the same area's. I think the full on grease kings could be eventually found at some other area's in the vicinity... Along with newport morphs not to far from the oil field. I've got tons of cover out at a good spot, traditionally a drainage... Ske...

I heard Hoyer had some boards or carpets up somewhere on the backside. They could be present there. I wont ever say never. I've heard very little, but it's amazing what can be discovered right outside Los Angeles.

Good luck herping this weekend!
